This Congolese accent chair is carved from a single block of kola nut tree wood, which is found in the tropical rain forests of Africa. It is called a Ngombe chair and is named for the tribe that made it. The chair is late 20th century and meticulously appointed with metal tacks that compose a breathtaking design. Iron and brass tacks were often used in the creation of these chairs because they were viewed as highly valued European trade imports that indicated the owner's wealth and rank. As such, Ngombe chairs were made for religious and political members of great status and were only used for special occasions. Each chair has its own individual design and promises to be a one-of-a-kind complement to your home or business décor.
