GIVING BACK TO OTHERS
Below is a list of some of our favorite charities. Please consider making a small donation to help us make our world better!
Take FLYTE
The Foundation for Learning and Youth Travel Education (FLYTE) is a nonprofit organization that empowers students living in underserved communities through transformative travel experiences.
At FLYTE, we believe that through these global experiences, students will be encouraged to explore and develop their understanding of the world and foster a sense of possibility in them. We want students to seek new experiences, engage as global citizens, and learn for themselves that the world is so much bigger than the community from which you come.
Toys for Tots
The primary goal of Marine Toys for Tots is, through the gift of a new toy, help bring the joy of Christmas and send a message of hope to America's less fortunate children. Kabria has been giving to this wonderful organization for more than 11 years. As a child, she knew what it was like to have a wonderful Christmas. She wants to help as many children as possible to be able to also have an amazing Christmas. Please click the logo to make a donation.
Thea Barnes Legacy Fund
Thea Barnes dedicated her life to the art of Dance. She graced audiences internationally with her bold, strong, yet gentle presence. To keep her legacy alive, the "Thea Barnes Legacy Fund” has been set up to support the work of current and future artists in dance and performing arts. By funding and mentoring these artists we believe that we will be creating opportunities for them to contribute to keeping the industry vibrant, diverse, innovative and inspiring for future generations to come. Thea taught and transferred her knowledge to assist others in gaining from their own learning experience. One of these artists is Duane Cyrus, who highlighted the importance of giving to others, he expressed how he "learned from [Thea] that being an artist is not about what you can get––it is about giving to others.
Thea was Kabria's cousin, who was more like a big sister. She was hugely influential in Kabria's life. Any donation, large or small, would be a great help.
Animal Welfare League
The Animal Welfare League was founded in 1935 to stop the suffering of animals that seemed common place in Chicagoland. Our founding shelter, located at 6224 South Wabash Avenue in Chicago, still exists today as the only humane society on the south side of Chicago. Our Wabash shelter operates in an economically depressed area and provides valuable services to residents in the area such as shelter and care to homeless and needy animals, low cost clinic services to pet owners on a limited income and no-charge monthly pet food distribution.
Kabria has adopted several family pets from the Animal Welfare over the years. These pets have given her endless moments of joy and so she gives back to the AWL each year to not only say thank you, but to also ensure that they have the resources they need to continue bringing joy to other families in the form of healthy, loving pets.
