Gourd from Burkina Faso
This is a beautiful incised and designed large gourd vegetable dyed bowl rattle with leather trim and cowrie shells from Burkina Faso. This traditional instrument is used in village ceremonies by dancers and musicians. Gourds are one of the earliest domesticated plants, and have developed in tandem with human civilization.
