This is a very rare and unusual mask from the Kwese people of the Congo, Central Africa. Hand hammered brass with lavish Sandcast Bead adornment and raised linear and round spot designs. In Kwese society, sacred masks kept in small communal shrines perform at initiation ceremonies and on other occasions to promote social well-being, health, and abundance. Has wire for hanging. Stand not included.
